The Wedding Ceremony

Originally Aired June 24-25, 1983 "Do you, Nola Ann, take Quinton to be your lawfully wedded husband, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, 'til death do you part?............."I do."..........."Do you, Quinton, take Nola Ann to be your lawfully wedded wife, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, 'til death do you part?"........."I do."

"Nola, I give you this ring, as a symbol of the promise of my unending love."......."Quinton, I give you this ring, as a symbol of the promise of my unending love."

(As Tony walks Nola down the aisle, she stops to kiss Stacey and pat Bea on the shoulder, before meeting Quinton at the altar.)

PRIEST: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

PRIEST: Do you, Nola Ann, take Quinton to be your lawfully wedded husband, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, 'til death do you part?

NOLA: I do.

PRIEST: Do you, Quinton, take Nola Ann to be your lawfully wedded wife, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, 'til death do you part?

QUINTON: I do.

PRIEST: The rings?

(The priest hands the rings to Quinton and Nola in turn.)

QUINTON: Nola, I give you this ring, as a symbol of the promise of my unending love.

NOLA: Quinton, I give you this ring, as a symbol of the promise of my unending love.

PRIEST: By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.

(Nola throws her arms around kiss and they kiss, as the scene shifts to show the firemen's Dalmatian sitting on the church steps.)

PRIEST: The Mass is ended. Let us go in peace and love.

ALL: Thanks be to God.

(Nola and Quint walk down the aisle and outside the church, where they kiss while the guests follow them out.)

Alone on the Porch

"Alone on the Porch"

Originally Aired June 27, 1983 "Do you think uh . . . do you think we're going to be happy?".... "We'll be very happy."

"You go ahead and eat. If there's one thing I do know, you are not supposed to get overtired and hungry. You have to be very calm and very relaxed tonight."......"Mother!"...........Well, it's true, Nola. I'm not embarrassed to say it. Now go ahead, eat your sandwich."

Quinton and Nola have just exchanged their marriage vows in a long awaited wedding. The added excitement of the day was when Nola arrived late for ceremony on a fire truck when all the Reardons mistakenly left her behind without a ride to the church. At the reception while everyone is inside at Company, Nola and Quint share a first moment alone as husband and wife outside on the porch. Mrs. Renfield has just informed the newlyweds that she will be moving to Scotland to live with her sister Victoria.

EXT. BOARDING HOUSE PORCH

Nola in her wedding dress and Quint in his tuxedo are on a porch swing. Quint nuzzles Nola as she laughs. They are talking about whether or not Quint was worried when Nola was late for the ceremony. Quint continues nuzzling and kissing Nola.

QUINT: (into Nola's ear) Do you realize that this is the first time we have been alone today since the balloon?

NOLA: Have you forgotten about the guy that drove the balloon and the chauffeur and everything else?

Nola starts to losen his ascot.

QUINT: (over) Oh yes, oh yes you're absolutely right. Come here you.

Quint kisses Nola.

QUINT: You know it's very funny.

NOLA: What?

QUINT: You and I out here on the swing when we have a whole house full of guests.

Nola continues to losen ascot

NOLA: Well I think they can uh. . . I think they can wait a couple of minutes without us you know.

QUINT: (sexily into ear) I think they can wait to.

NOLA: Are you . . .? Wait one serious moment here. Are you upset about Mrs. Renfield . . . .what she said?

QUINT: Yes, I'm very upset about it. I think she'll be happy with her sister.

NOLA: Yeah. Do you think uh . . . do you think we're going to be happy?

QUINT: We'll be very happy.

Quint gently kisses Nola's cheek.

NOLA: You know what I think is really wonderful?

QUINT: Hmmm?

NOLA: That there's a whole house full of people inside and we're out here all by ourselves on this swing.

QUINT: Oh I know.

NOLA: Yeah.

Nola and Quint move into a more passionate kiss.

QUINT: Are you going to miss it here? Miss living here?

NOLA: (laughing) Yeah a little. A little bit, I mean this is the place where I grew up so of course I'm going to miss it. But I'm really glad that I moved in those couple of weeks before we got married. Because it was a nice couple weeks.

QUINT: Oh yeah.

NOLA: Yeah.

QUINT: Excellent couple of weeks. We had our first fight.

NOLA: Yeah, well at least we got that out of the way you now. I think that's important.

QUINT: Yes

Nola laughs as they both move into another kiss. Nola pulls away.

NOLA: Listen I got an idea.

QUINT: What?

NOLA: Why don't we leave right now? Why don't we just go right now? Now! Go!

Quint fixes his acot.

QUINT: Well uh we'll leave soon.

NOLA: Yeah well, um . . . I don't want to say goodbye to mom. I don't . . .

QUINT: I know.

NOLA: I know it's a little silly and everything, but I know she's going to cry and then I'm going to cry and . . .

QUINT: (quietly) It's going to be all right. Don't worry.

Quint moves in for a kiss.

NOLA: You promise we'll leave soon.

QUINT: Absolutely.

Nola laughs and they kiss. Bea enters with a tray of milk and sandwiches.

BEA: Oh, there you are. I'm glad I found you. I'm glad you're alone. I'll get you out of here in a few minutes, but first I want to make sure you have something to eat.

Quint and Nola pull out of their embrace.

BEA: I've been keeping an eye on you two all day and you haven't had hardly anything to eat except that little bit of cake that you fed each other.

Bea hands a plate with sandwich to both Quint and Nola

NOLA: Well actually I'm very. . . I'm hungry mother.

BEA: Yeah I'm sure. I know what's it like to have a million things to do and never have a chance to sit down.

NOLA: I bet you didn't ride to your wedding on a fire engine. Did you?

BEA: (laughing) No I didn't do that. Your Uncle Pete took me in his old DeSoto. And there wasn't a hot air balloon anywhere in sight.

QUINT: (laughing) Bea this looks very delicious.

BEA: I'm glad. Now you go ahead and eat. If there's one thing I do know you, you are not supposed to get over tired and hungry. You have to be very calm and very relaxed tonight.

Quint nearly chokes on sandwich.

NOLA: (shocked) Mother!

BEA: Well it's true Nola. I'm not embarrassed to say it. Now go ahead eat your sandwich.

Quint chuckles.

NOLA: Mother, you cut the crust off my bread.

BEA: Yes I did dear because I know you like it better that way.

Nola looks to Quint.

QUINT: I'll remember that.

NOLA: (teasingly) You better.

QUINT: Okay.

BEA: There's one other thing I want to say to. That I know you're not going to have the same kind of money problems that most couples have when they first get married, but if you have any trouble at all, I'll be here for both of you. I think of Ed as my son and I think of you as my son to.

QUINT: (touched) Thanks Bea. I'm very proud of that.

BEA: Now just you remember . . . you'll always have your family.

NOLA: Oh mom (Nola gets up to hug Bea) Oh Mom.

BEA: (hugging Nola) Now you go ahead . . . you eat your sandwiches. Then go inside and find out where you're going on your honeymoon.

NOLA: What?

Nola releases Bea and turns to Quint.

BEA: Yeah!

NOLA: Now?

BEA: Yes.

Quint gets up and puts down sandwich

QUINT: Now

NOLA: (excitedly) Inside?

BEA: Inside

Bea points them both inside.

QUINT: Let's do it now. Come on.

Nola and Quint run inside. Bea in her Catholic mother way tries to figure when the "wedding night baby" will arrive.

Nola goes back to the reception and finds out that she and Quint are going to Ireland for their honeymoon. She is thrilled.
