INT. SPRINGFIELD TOWERS SUITE -- LATER THAT DAY (Scene 48)
NOLA is lying on her stomach on the couch. QUINT sits next to her massaging her shoulders and back.
QUINT: You've got to relax. You are so tight.
NOLA: I'm trying (she sighs) That feels so good.
QUINT: Are you feeling any better about what we discussed earlier?
NOLA: (very relaxed) I think so.
QUINT: It is really a relief to hear you talking about them at least. I was really worried about you.
NOLA: I think we need to go back to California and visit their . . . I mean them.
QUINT: Are you sure? I think it is really important, but I don't want you to do anything you aren't ready for.
NOLA: No, I need to do this to put a close to this so I . . . so we can go on.
QUINT: You do understand that I made the only choice I could. As much as I loved and wanted our babies, I just couldn't even imagine life without you.
NOLA: I understand. It took me a long time, but I understand now. . .
Quint continues to massage her lower back
QUINT: If you are sure I will make all the arrangements.
NOLA: (very relaxed) I'm sure. I need to say goodbye to . . .
Quint stops massaging
QUINT: (prompting) To?
NOLA: To Sean and Stephanie.
Nola rolls over and looks at Quint with a tear in her eye.
QUINT: I love you
Quint leans down and gently kisses her and holds her.
NOLA: It is time to let go .
QUINT: Nola, I am so sorry about the last few years.
NOLA: I love you.
INT. SPRINGFIELD TOWERS SUITE BEDROOM -- A FEW HOURS LATER (Scene 49)
STACEY is sitting on the bed while NOLA unpacks some of her clothes.
STACEY: Mom, I really need to be getting back to school. Do you think I should talk to daddy before I leave about . . .
NOLA: That is entirely up to you. I told you I'd support you, but it is your decision to tell him.
STACEY: I know, but I just can't keep procrastinating with this thing.
Stacey gets up and walks into the adjoining bathroom.
NOLA: (calling) You didn't happen to borrow my white blouse again did you?
STACEY: (O.C.) Yeah, I did, I hope you don't mind
NOLA: No, just let me know, okay. (no response) Stacey?
Stacey enters the room cautiously with a stricken look on her face.
NOLA: What's the matter?
STACEY: I guess I should ask you that question.
NOLA: What do you mean?
STACEY: What do I mean?
NOLA: (honestly unaware): Yes, what do you mean?
STACEY: Why didn't you tell me?
NOLA: Tell you what? Please tell me.
STACEY: (scared) I saw in there a . . . mom are you . . . pregnant?
NOLA: Oh, I'm sorry you saw that. Your father and I were going to talk to you about this tonight . . .
STACEY: Then you are?
NOLA: No, it was a false positive. I've already been to see the doctor. It's fine. I'm okay and I'm not pregnant . . . thank God.
STACEY: Oh, I'm so relieved.
NOLA: I was too, but the doctor here in Springfield . . . she actually thought I could have another baby if I wanted too.
STACEY: I don't understand, I thought your other doctor said it would be dangerous to you.
NOLA: He did, but apparently that was just his opinion.
STACEY: You and dad aren't going to try and . . .
NOLA: No, but believe it or not, your father actually thought it was a good idea, but I set him straight.
STACEY: Figures.
NOLA: I love you kids, but I am not ready now to start all over again.
STACEY: I know you don't like to talk about this, but what about the whole thing with . . .
NOLA: It's okay, we don't have to pretend it didn't happen anymore . . . the whole thing with Stephanie and Sean.
STACEY: Mom, that's great
NOLA: Actually your father and I have decided to go back to California and . . . visit them.
STACEY: I think that's a great idea. You've never been there since right after it happened.
NOLA: I know, I need to do it though to put a close to it. I just have to face that it wasn't meant to be.
STACEY: Mom, I'm so sorry, but you still have J and me.
Stacey goes and hugs Nola.
NOLA: I know and believe me that helps so much. I went through so much guilt and pain about this thing, but I know now there was nothing I could do.
STACEY: Mom, Sean and Stephanie will always be in our hearts and no one or nothing can take that away from us.
NOLA: I know.
STACEY: So when are you and daddy going back to California?
NOLA: I'm not sure. Your father said he was making the arrangements, but probably soon.
STACEY: (lightening mood): Wow, when I saw that positive test in there I was like . . . MOM!
NOLA: (joking) Me too, can you imagine an old broad like me walking around with my grown daughter and a little infant. It be like, "hey lady congratulations on your grandchild".
STACEY: Come on mom, you are not that old. Lots of women your age have children for the first time.
NOLA: I know, I'm just kidding, but I'm not some teenager and I do need to be more careful. I mean it was possible.
STACEY: (joking) So I guess you haven't always practiced what you preached.
NOLA: Well MOST of the time I have.
STACEY: Aren't you and daddy going to start wearing you rings again?
NOLA: I hadn't thought about it actually. Do you still have mine?
STACEY: Of course I still have it. (She pulls out of her shirt a chain which has two wedding bands on it) I have it right here.
NOLA: But there are two?
STACEY: The other one is daddy's. He gave me his too.
NOLA: (surprised): Well . . . can I see them.
Stacey starts to take them off the chain and hands them to Nola. Nola goes for the rings.
NOLA: Can I keep them.
STACEY: Of course you can.
NOLA: So when are you going back to school.
STACEY: Actually I was thinking I should go back tomorrow. I don't want to fall too far behind.
NOLA: I know you can handle it, but I will miss you.
STACEY: I'll be back a lot.
NOLA: So are you going to tell your father?
STACEY: I don't think the timing is right. Not with all that has gone on.
NOLA: Well it is your decision. I love you.
She hugs Stacey. A KNOCK is heard at the door. Nola responds and goes to get it.
INT. SPRINGFIELD TOWERS SUITE -- A FEW MOMENTS LATER (Scene 49B)
NOLA and STACEY walk to the door to see who it is. Nola opens the door.
BELL BOY: Mrs. Chamberlain?
NOLA: That's me.
BELL BOY: We have some things for you.
NOLA: Oh, okay.
She stands back as BELL BOYS enter with various arrangements of roses.
STACEY: (joking) Gee, I wonder who sent these?
The bell boys continue to bring in the flowers and finally they give her a single wrapped rose bud which has a note attached.
NOLA: Thank you. Hold on
Nola goes to get her purse.
BELL BOY: No ma'am, everything has been taken care of.
The bell boy leaves.
NOLA: (teasing) So I wonder which of my admirers sent these?
STACEY: (going along) I don't know, but this display does seem to have a distinctive signature on it.
Nola opens the attached card , reads and smiles.
NOLA: (joking) Oh, John how sweet!
STACEY: (teasing) Mom!
NOLA: I really am going to have to update my evening wardrobe if your father keeps up with these requests.
They both smile and laugh.

14 - "Dancing Fever"
INT. SPRINGFIELD TOWER'S SUITE BEDROOM -- THAT NIGHT
NOLA is getting ready for her big evening out. She is wearing a slip and hose and is putting the last touches on her hair. She goes to the closet and pulls out the new dress that she just bought which is still in the garment bag from the store. She takes the dress over to the bed and starts to unzip the bag. Suddenly QUINTON grabs her from behind.
QUINT: I don't know, seeing you like this maybe we should just stay in again.
NOLA: Good things come to those that wait besides I'd really like to give this dress a spin.
Nola pulls the dress out of the bag. It is a very short form fitting wine colored dress. Very simple, but very elegant. She shows it to Quinton.
QUINT: Oh, that's lovely, it'll look great on you.
NOLA: Do you think so?
QUINT: Uh, huh. (Quint kisses her)
NOLA: There would be no more of these dresses if we were to get pregnant you know?
QUINT: You are not going to let me forget that are you?
NOLA: No, I understand though (teasing) getting me pregnant would make you feel like a real stud.
QUINT: That's not true.
NOLA: (still teasing) Yes it is, admit it?
QUINT: Maybe a little true
NOLA: Okay, that's better.
QUINT: So let's see it on.
NOLA: Aren't you going to get ready or are you just going to stand there and watch me dress?
QUINT: Well actually I'd rather watch you . . .
NOLA: (over) Stop right there mister, we are going out first. Like I said good things come to those who wait.
(Nola wiggles into the dress)
QUINT: Are you sure you got the right size?
NOLA: It's supposed to fit tight, that's the style.
QUINT: No complaints here.
NOLA: Could you come and get the zipper for me?
QUINT: Sure
Quint moves to zipper the dress, but can't resist himself and starts to kiss her neck.
NOLA: Quinton!! Please.
QUINT: We have so much time to make up for.
She turns to him and gives him a long passionate kiss.
NOLA: I want romance too. Now please zipper.
Quint reaches behind her and pulls up the zipper.
NOLA (whispers in his ear) Thank you.
She pulls him very tight and close to her.
NOLA: (firmly) Now get ready.
She pats him on the butt to move along.
QUINT: (stunned by her assertiveness) Yes ma'am. (he starts moving toward the bathroom). By the way, you look absolutely delicious in that dress.
Nola shakes her head.
INT. SPRINGFIELD TOWERS SUITE -- LATER THAT EVENING
NOLA is signing a bill for the WAITER that just brought up a bottle of champagne. She runs over and checks the champagne and then drops each of the wedding bands that Stacey gave her into each glass. QUINT emerges from the bedroom dressed in a stylish black tux. Nola quickly turns to him.
NOLA: You look very handsome
QUINT: Thank you very much. (looking around her) What have you done?
NOLA: Oh that (indicating to champagne) I just ordered us a little champagne for a toast.
QUINT: What a wonderful idea. Let me pour.
NOLA: (walking toward him) No, no, no, I ordered it, so I pour. You just wait there.
Nola turns and goes to the champagne. Quint watches her adoringly. She has trouble, but finally POPS the cork and then begins to pour. She tries not to let him see the rings in the glasses. She takes his glass to him double checking that he has the correct ring. She hands him the glass of champagne and smiles at him. Quint does not notice the ring yet.
NOLA: (toasting quietly) To the many years we've spent together and to the many years yet to come.
They clink glasses and Quint goes to take a sip still not noticing ring. Nola reaches out to him.
NOLA: Quinton watch out, you're going to . . .
QUINT: Nola what?
NOLA: In the glass
Quint finally notices the ring in the glass and smiles.
QUINT: Hmmmm, I wonder what this is?
Quint fishes out ring.
NOLA: I wonder? Look I have something in mine too.
Nola fishes ring out of her glass. Quint smirks.
NOLA: I thought it was about time. . . so would you wear my ring again?
QUINT: I would be honored to.
Nola nervously puts the ring on his finger.
NOLA: This time it's on for good. I love you.
QUINT: I love you . . .so would you wear my ring?
NOLA: (teasing) Let me think . . . you know some women are opting not to wear a wedding ring . . .
Quint smiles at her
NOLA: I'd love to.
QUINT: I bet this makes Johnny and Nora very happy.
Quint puts ring on her finger. They look at each other and gently embrace and kiss. A church bell is heard in the distance.
INT. LIMOUSINE -- LATER THAT NIGHT
QUINT and NOLA are in the back of a limousine.
NOLA: That was such a wonderful restaurant.
QUINT: I just read a good review of it last week and it sounded very romantic . . . you said you wanted romance.
NOLA: It was definitely romantic, (teasing disappointment) but where was the heather?
QUINT: (teasing) Nola, I don't want to get in a rut.
NOLA: Do we have to go home already? I feel like doing something.
QUINT: (suggestively) So do I.
Quint goes to kiss her
NOLA: You have a one track mind.
QUINT: I told you, we have a lot of time to make up.
NOLA: (excitedly) Let's go dancing.
QUINT: Dancing? Dancing's a good idea. I think there is actually a really nice band at the Towers' revolving restaurant.
NOLA: Actually I was thinking of a dance club . . . you know a disco.
QUINT: A disco? Nola!
NOLA: Come on, it will be fun.
QUINT: I'm not exactly the disco type.
NOLA: You have talked your way out of this one every single time since I met you and this time I won't let you. Everyone can disco dance.
QUINT: I can't.
NOLA: Well I can and I'll show you how. Besides I want to work this dress. I'm not ready to be an old lady yet Quinton.
QUINT: You're hardly an old lady and you're already "working" that dress . . .
Quint smiles at Nola whose expression has not changed.
QUINT: I'm not going to talk you out of this one am I?
NOLA: No, so don't even try. I overheard J talking about a really fun place on the corner of Bleeker and Oak.
QUINT: Is that where all the kids hang out?
NOLA: Only if they have fake ID's. (teasing) Don't worry tonight is old foggy's night.
She laughs.
QUINT: Okay, why not? Fritz could you take us to Bleeker and Oak.
NOLA: Hey who knows, maybe we'll get carded. I would kiss the bouncer right there and then if he did that . . . Hope you have a valid photo ID!
She continues to laugh and smile. Quint holds her close.
INT. DISCO -- THAT EVENING
NOLA and QUINT enter a loud and crowded disco. "Just Another Night" by Real McCoy is playing and the lights are flashing. Quint looks slightly uncomfortable, but Nola acts right at home immediately getting into the music. They make their way to the bar.
NOLA: (to bartender) Two rocks margaritas with salt.
BARTENDER nods and goes to make drinks. Nola continues to dance to music holding onto Quint's hand. The bartender returns quickly with their drinks. Nola takes drinks and pulls a bill out of her purse and places it on bar and hands Quint his drink. They make their way to an empty table. They notice a crowd forming around the dance floor.
NOLA: (into Quint's ear) I wonder what is going on over there.
QUINT: I can't see.
Nola stands up trying to see what is happening. She sees a WOMAN IN A RED SEQUINED DRESS whooping it up.
NOLA: Is that? . . . It can't be. She's practically coming out of her dress. Look Quinton . . .
Quinton stands up trying to see what is going on.
QUINT: Is that Reva Lewis?
NOLA: I think she might currently be Reva Cooper, but I'm really not sure, but it definitely is Reva.
Quint gets a shocked expression on her face.
NOLA: Ewww, I knew that was going to happen. Quinton, what are you looking at?
QUINT: What everyone is looking at.
NOLA: Well I guess you can be added to her list now.
QUINT: What list?
NOLA; The list of Springfield men that have seen her naked. . . you just joined the list . . . didn't you?
QUINT: Of course. Reva doesn't interest me in the least. That is not my type at all.
NOLA: Poor Josh, he looks totally embarassed. Let's not let them know we're here, it would only make them feel worse.
The music continues to play loudly. Josh takes Reva by the arm and escorts her off the dance floor.
QUINT: They're coming right this way.
NOLA: Just pretend we didn't see anything.
Quint nods.
JOSH: Nola is that you?
NOLA: Hi Josh, hi Reva
REVA: So I guess all of Springfield's old stand bys are back together.
NOLA (takes Quint hand): You can say that. Why mess with something that works?
JOSH: So Quint are you still spying on Nola from secret passageways?
QUINT: (looks confused, but then) No need to spy anymore.
NOLA: Stop it!
REVA: So did you two just get here?
NOLA: Just a few minutes ago. It was like pulling teeth to get Quinton to come here.
REVA: I know Joshua was the same way. When will these men learn to losen up? They shouldn't let the women have all the fun.
Another song starts it's "Finally" by CeCe Penniston.
NOLA: Quinton I love this song, please dance with me.
(Nola grabs Quint's arm and Josh gets a don't even ask expression on his face)
QUINT: Nola this is really not my style.
REVA: Nola forget these stiffs, let's go dance together.
NOLA: Okay, fine.
Reva grabs Nola's hand and leads her to the dance floor. Neither seem inhibited in their dancing each seemingly trying to outdo the other and get the most attention. Quinton and Josh look on from their table. Josh seems a little embarrased by Reva's dancing, but Quint seems to enjoy watching. Nola and Reva continue to try and outdo each other. Reva's dress keeps riding down and Nola's keeps riding up. Nola tries not to let it bother her since obviously it doesn't bother Reva, but then Nola pulls her dress back down. They keep dancing. A HANDSOME MAN a little younger than both ladies starts to watch Nola and Reva. Reva flirts with him and the man smiles at her. Nola ignores him. The man dances over to Reva and Nola.
REVA: (leaning over to man): I'd love to . . .
MAN: I'm sorry, love to what?
The man turns to Nola. Nola looks surprised and looks over to Quint and starts dancing with man. Reva slinks off in disgrace. Back at the table , Quint briefly nervously shifts in his chair and then sits back with a grin on his face adoringly watching Nola
CUT TO:
INT. DISCO -- A FEW HOURS LATER
NOLA hangs on QUINT and REVA hangs on JOSH at the table as they drink pitchers of Margaritas. The men appear sober, but the women are definitley "enjoying" themselves.
REVA: Nola, I never knew you were so much fun.
NOLA: A lot of people don't know the real me anymore.
Nola runs her fingers through Quint's hair and kisses the side of his face.
QUINT: (to Nola) NO ONE is more fun than you. (Quint brushes his fingers against Nola's face and then nibbles her ear)
REVA: (tipsy) Quint what was that that you did with your fingers . . . to her face?
QUINT: (confused) What do you mean?
NOLA: (to Quint) You know that chin and cheek thing you do. (leaning towards Reva) Reva let me tell you, he does it all the time and it is still GREAT even after all these years. (reaches toward Reva's red dress and whispers) A few of your sequins are coming loose . . .
Reva ignores this remark and laughs
REVA: Whoever said no one has fun after 35 doesn't know what they are talking about!
NOLA: (tipsy) Only over 35 Reva? Hey what are at least five more years between friends?
REVA: I'm not . . . yet.
NOLA; Whatever you say. Well I am and have never felt better, but I could have swore you were older than me back in the 80's.
JOSH: (to Reva) I thought you were . . .
Reva silences him with a big kiss.
REVA: Never mind Joshua.
"Turn the Beat Around" by Gloria Estefan starts to play.
REVA: Nola, I think they're playing our song. Let's go!
NOLA: Sounds good to me.
They both quickly stagger out to the dance floor and dance without inhibition. Quint shakes his head and Josh covers his eyes.
INT. DISCO -- A LITTLE WHILE LATER
REVA and NOLA continue to dance, but are getting out of breath, but neither wants to be the first to stop.
REVA: You are some dancer.
NOLA: I spent a lot of my earlier years dancing.
REVA: You know Quint has not stopped looking at you since you got out here.
NOLA: Really? I didn't notice.
REVA: Why don't you give that man a break and take him home already. Disco dancing is NOT what's on his mind. I would have taken Joshua home a long time ago if he was giving me that look.
NOLA: I've found it is always better to make Quinton wait a little.
REVA: (suggestively) I know what you mean, but I just don't have that strength when it comes to men.
NOLA: Reva, it just takes a little mind power. You could do it if you tried.
REVA: I'm not so sure about that Nola.
The MUSIC turns to something slow and people start to slow dance. From Quint's POV we see the same HANDSOME MAN from before coming up to Nola and asking her to dance. QUINT quickly gets up and cuts in with Nola before the handsome man gets a chance. Quint pulls Nola tightly to him and they dance. The handsome man starts to dance with Reva.
INT. LIMOUSINE -- LATER THAT EVENING
NOLA is relaxing in Quint's arms.
NOLA: That Reva is certainly wild. I always heard about her, but never actually saw her in action.
QUINT: Josh looked pretty embarassed most of the night.
NOLA: I don't blame him, everyone was looking at her. That dress got dangerously low more than just that one time.
QUINT: I know.
NOLA: Hey, you're not supposed to be looking at that.
QUINT: It was just looking besides you had a few moments yourself and what about you and Mr. Disco?
NOLA: A little jealous were you?
QUINT: No, I was just glad to see you having a good time.
NOLA: (disappointed) You weren't even a little jealous?
QUINT: Maybe a little, but I knew it would be me that you would go home with.
NOLA: (moving real close to Quint) Awful confident with yourself aren't you?
QUINT: (seductivley) Don't I have reason?
NOLA: (pulling him firmly to her) I don't think I'm ready to go home yet.
QUINT: Nola, it's almost 2 AM!!
NOLA: No, I have one more place I would like to go.
QUINT: Where?
Nola gets up and whispers something into the DRIVERS' ear. The driver nods. Nola sits back down next to Quint and rests in his arms.
QUINT: Nola? What are you up to.
NOLA: Nothing really, just a little surprise. Now you should try to rest while you have a chance.
She closes her eyes and Quint smiles and does the same.
To be continued...
When we last left Quola they were riding home in the limousine (Fritz is back as their driver) after running into Josh and Reva at a disco. Nola is not ready for the evening to be over and whispers to Fritz for him to take them somewhere else. Remember Quint is in his tux and Nola is wearing her sexy little short and tight wine colored dress that she has been "working" all evening. Not especially vital info, but just puts the right images in your head.
INT. LIMOUSINE
NOLA covers QUINT's eyes as the car slows to a stop.
QUINT: Nola, how much longer before you let me see where we are?
NOLA: Not much longer. Not much longer at all. Just trust me a little bit longer.
QUINT: I trust you. It's just that I'm as curious as hell.
NOLA: It'll be worth the wait believe me.
Nola starts to open the door on her side of her car.
NOLA: Now I'm not going to be able to cover your eyes anymore so do you promise to keep them shut and just follow my lead.
QUINT: Yes Nola, I promise
Quint "crosses his heart"
NOLA: Okay, then just follow me. And believe me, if you do as you're told you will be heartily rewarded.
QUINT: Well if that's the case. Just tell me what to do.
Nola leads Quint out of the car and then she closes the door behind them.
EXT. DARK AREA
It is very quiet and dark, but a wrought iron gate can be seen. NOLA opens the large gate and it SQUEAKS. QUINT with his eyes still squeezed shut follows Nola through the gate.
QUINT: What was that?
NOLA: Just a gate that needs oiling.
QUINT: Nola are we trespassing on private property?
NOLA: Don't worry about anything.
EXT. OUTSIDE A FRONT DOOR -- A FEW MOMENTS LATER
NOLA and QUINT approach the entranceway to a completely darkened large house. Nola pulls a key out of the top of her dress and unlocks the door. She opens the door and it SQUEAKS too. QUINT follows her inside.
QUINT: Nola, please let me look. This is driving me crazy.
NOLA: That is exactly the effect I wanted.
Nola closes the door behind them.
NOLA: Okay, you can open your eyes now.
QUINT: I can't see anything. It is pitch dark.
NOLA: Oh sorry.
Nola lights a candle that is in the entranceway and it is seen that they are in the entranceway of the house on Thornway Road.
QUINT: Nola, our old house.
Nola moves real close to Quint
NOLA: I know and nothing has changed except for one thing
QUINT: What's that?
Nola gets even closer to Quint and wraps her arms around him and whispers in his ear.
NOLA: Me
QUINT: (a bit confused) You? Why just you. We both changed. I mean we're both older, wiser , more mature . . .
Nola starts to kiss Quint
NOLA: Of course that, but I am the one that has really changed. You changed me. (She kisses him) You taught me.
QUINT: I taught you?
NOLA: Yes, I thought I knew so much when I married you . . . about life . . . about love . . . but the last time we were together in this house . . . I knew nothing . . .
QUINT: I see now. . . But Nola you were always wonderful.
NOLA: That was just because you loved me, but I had to come back to this house and make right a few things. You know I look at that staircase and all I can remember is either running up them in tears or running down them with excited anticipation
QUINT: We certainly did a lot of running up and down those stairs
Nola leads Quint into the study
INT. THORNWAY ROAD STUDY
NOLA leads QUINT into the study and she lights a candle on the mantle.
QUINT: How did you get the key?
NOLA: I got it from a realtor. I told her I was interested in the house.
QUINT: (surprised) You are?
NOLA: Yes, we never should have moved out of here in the first place.
QUINT: I just can't believe how this place is almost exactly the same.
NOLA: The realtor said there has been a lot of interest in this house lately so they decided to clean it up a bit and give it a more lived in look.
Quint covers his reaction. Nola starts to fumble around the book case behind the desk.
QUINT: Nola what are you doing?
NOLA: I'm trying to find the . . . oh here it is.
The bookcase slowly swings open.
NOLA: (mischieveously) Secret passageways.
Nola walks into the secret passageway and Quint eagerly follows her.
INT. THORNWAY ROAD SECRET PASSAGEWAY
NOLA and then QUINT enter a dark part of the house where there is a rickety circular staircase.
NOLA: Why is it so hot in here?
QUINT: They must have set the temperature wrong. It really is hot in here.
Quint starts to take off his jacket. Nola turns to him
NOLA: It is so musty in here . . . and hot.
She moves real close to Quint again and this time Quint doesn't look nearly as confused.
NOLA: All these secret passageways went to waste all those years ago. Stupid stupid little Nola.
Nola starts to kiss Quint's neck.
NOLA: But she's not stupid anymore.
Quint watches her as she slips out of her dress and starts to unbutton his shirt.
QUINT: Do you know how many times when we were living here I dreamed you would do just what you are doing right now?
NOLA: It's no dream now.
They kiss passionately. They break from the kiss and continue to talk between kisses.
NOLA: (breathlessly) You dreamed too?
QUINT: Constantly. How do you think I made it through 20 months and ten days of sleeping right down the hall from you?
NOLA: See I didn't know about that side of you at all. I guess I really was stupid.
They slowly start to kiss again and the kissing becomes more feverish as they take each other's clothes off and they drop to the floor.
INT. SECRET PASSAGEWAY -- LATER THAT EVENING
Close up on NOLA and QUINT who are lying together kissing and talking and cuddling.
NOLA: So did your dreams go anything like that?
QUINT: I never dared let them go that far.
NOLA: Isn't it great when reality is better than dreams?
QUINT: Secret passageways sure have some echo.
NOLA: Are you teasing me?
QUINT: I would NEVER tease you about that.
NOLA: Well I wasn't the only one.
QUINT: That may be true, but no one compares to you.
NOLA: I can't remember when it was, but Stacey once said something to me about me being noisy.
QUINT: There were all those tents and then the house in California was new and they just don't make houses the way they used to . . . really thin walls you know.
NOLA: I nearly keeled over in embarrassment when she told me.
QUINT: So do you feel like you righted all the wrongs?
NOLA: Why, do you have something in mind?
QUINT: (hesitates) Well I do recall a particular ringing phone in L.A. that I always wished you hadn't answered.
NOLA: You're not going to bring that up again!! I told you I was worried about Stacey.
QUINT: Worried about Stacey who was with your mother who raised seven children all on her own?
NOLA: I was. I swear.
QUINT: Nola . . . come on
NOLA: Alright so you want the absolute truth.
QUINT: That would be nice.
NOLA: I was scared.
QUINT: Scared? Scared of what.
NOLA: Well like I said before, I didn't know about "that" side of you and I thought I was going to have to seduce you and then you came out of your room in those sexy pajamas and suddenly I was like . . . "Oh my God". Quinton, if you had seen your face you would know what I was talking about.
QUINT: My face?
NOLA: Yes, you're face. You had one thing on your mind.
QUINT: I sure did until you answered that phone.
NOLA: I guess I chickened out. I thought that was what I wanted and I did, but I didn't expect you to be so . . . (searching for word)
QUINT: So what?
NOLA: So . . . intense and I think that was the first time I ever saw you without your ascot. It was kinda scarey.
QUINT: I'm sorry.
NOLA: Don't be sorry. I just wasn't expecting it.
QUINT: Were you disappointed?
NOLA: No not at all. Believe me, not at all, especially not now. I guess I just had to grow into it a bit. (kissing him) You are a wonderful teacher.
QUINT: I think I taught you so well that you could teach me a thing or two now. (they continue to kiss and then breathlessly) Nola, what time is it? It looks like there's some light coming through that little window up there
Nola tries to see what time it is.
NOLA: I can't really see. It looks like . . . 5. It doesn't feel like 5.
QUINT: It sure doesn't.
Quint nuzzles Nola.
NOLA: We'd maybe better get back before the kids get up and before Fritz abandons us.
QUINT: Nola, this really was a wonderful idea.
NOLA: I'm glad you approve. Now where are our clothes?
INT. SPRINGFIELD TOWERS -- LATER THAT MORNING
QUINT and NOLA enter the suite quietly.
NOLA: You know you really are going to have to give Fritz a bonus this week for being so good natured about this.
QUINT: I will.
NOLA: What a wonderful wonderful evening.
They kiss when there is a noise at the door. Slowly the door starts to open and J sneaks in. Quint and Nola break from the kiss
J: (shocked) Good morning.
NOLA: J, where have you been?
J: (coyly) Guess I could ask you the same question.
NOLA: I asked you first.
J: I was on a date.
QUINT: And you get home at 6 AM? What have I told you about this.
J: Look I'm 19, I'm in college. I've got a life.
QUINT: Until you pay your own bills you don't have that much of a life.
NOLA: J please don't tell me you were out with Michelle.
J: I can guarantee you that I was not out with Michelle.
QUINT: Is that the truth?
J: Yes, it is the truth. Where have the two of you been all night? Or do I not want to know? No actually I know I don't want to know.
NOLA: J, it really is not acceptable for you to be coming in this late.
J: I'm sorry. The time just got away from me.
NOLA: Who were you out with? Do we know this girl?
J: She's not a girl.
NOLA: Just tell us who she is.
J: I can't
QUINT: What do you mean you can't
J: She doesn't want anyone to know.
NOLA: I am way too tired to argue with you tonight. It would be nice to get a few hours of sleep. Goodnight or good morning.
She kisses J on the cheek and takes Quint's hand and gives him a seductive look and then releases his hand and disappears into their room.
QUINT: Were you telling the truth about not being out with Michelle?
J: Yes dad. I was not out with Michelle. That's way over and besides she's seeing some other dorky guy.
QUINT: OK, I believe you, but getting in at this time in the morning is not okay.
J: I tried to call you and mom, but you were apparently out partying too.
QUINT: I thought you would be happy to see your mother having so much fun. We wasted a lot of time.
J: I am. Look dad, I'm really tired. Can we talk about this later. I'm beat.
QUINT: Alright, but J, you are being safe aren't you?
J: Yes dad I am, (trailing off) but unfortunately lately I haven't had much to be safe about.
QUINT: I'm going to try to get some sleep too, goodnight.
J: Night
Quint disappears into the room and J stands there with a "self satisfied" look on his face.
INT. SPRINGFIELD TOWERS SUITE -- LATE MORNING
QUINT, NOLA and J are sitting around a room service table looking completely exhausted. STACEY is all bright. They all eat breakfast.
STACEY: See what you all get for staying out so late.
J: I can recall you staying out late more than a couple of times.
STACEY: So daddy, where did you and mom go last night?
Quint looks to Nola
QUINT: We went out to dinner and then we went dancing.
STACEY: Did you go dancing at that restaurant here in the Towers?
NOLA: (smiling) No, we went disco dancing.
J: (laughing) Dad went disco dancing. You guys didn't go to . . .
NOLA: Yes we went to that place I've heard you talking about.
J: Mom, I could have run into you there. That would have been totally embarrassing.
STACEY: So did daddy dance?
NOLA: We did a few slow dances, but he sat out all the fast dances.
J: That's a relief. I've seen dad fast dance and it is a sight that should never be witnessed again.
NOLA: We ran into Josh and Reva so Reva and I took in all the fast dances together. We had fun.
J: You ran into Reva . . . and Josh
QUINT: Hey I have a problem with all this teasing about my dancing. There's nothing wrong with my dancing . . .
NOLA: Honey, you are a wonderful slow dancer, but Quinton R. Chamberlain was not made for fast wiggling on the dance floor.
STACEY: I'm glad you all had such a good time. I really have to get packed. My flight is at 1:00.
NOLA: You're leaving today?
STACEY: Yes, I told you last night.
NOLA: I guess my mind is mush.
QUINT: Speaking of traveling. Your mother and I have plans to go back to Santa Barbara tomorrow.
NOLA: (nervously) Tomorrow?
QUINT: I made all the reservations yesterday, but didn't bring it up because I wanted you to enjoy your evening.
STACEY: Mom this is the best thing you could do.
J: I agree with Stacey.
NOLA: I know. I'm just a little scared.
QUINT: (takes Nola's hand) Nola, I will be with you. We will face this together.
NOLA: I know this is the right thing to do, but so soon?
QUINT: We have to put this behind us.
NOLA: You're right. . . . So we leave for California tomorrow. I guess I have a lot to get ready before then.
STACEY: Daddy, do you have the number where you and mom will be staying?
QUINT: Yes, I'll give it to you before you leave. We are staying at an old bed and breakfast on the beach.
STACEY: That sounds nice.
NOLA: (to Quint) It does. Stacey maybe you could come up one night.
STACEY: I will try, but I'll be really behind with school and I am sure I will be swamped with work. But I'll try. (turns to J) So AJ are you going to be able to control yourself here all alone?
NOLA: (to J) I want you to stay at the boarding house with Bridget while we are away.
J: (frustrated) Mom, I am not a baby.
NOLA: I know that's what worries me.
J: (exasperated) Mom, come on . . .
QUINT: J, listen to your mother.
J: (disappointed) Fine.
STACEY: I really have to get ready.
Stacey gets up and goes to her room. The Chamberlains continue with breakfast.
