by Donna

INT. DR. SEDWICK's WAITING ROOM - NEXT DAY (Scene 11)

NOLA is sitting in the waiting room reading a magazine. BLAKE enters and sits next to Nola.

BLAKE: Nola?

NOLA: Oh, hi, Blake. What are you doing here . . . oh that was a stupid question. (motioning to Blake's pregnant shape)

BLAKE: They're coming along quite nicely (rubbing stomach) . . . so you keeping something from everyone?

Nola looks confused and then realizes what she is talking about

NOLA; Oh, no, not me. I am past diapers. My kids are all grown up.

BLAKE: Never say never. Look at my mom and I'm a lot more grown up than your kids.

NOLA: Well, let's just say not now.

BLAKE: Did you ever call that friend of mine that I told you about? He would be great for you!

NOLA: No

BLAKE: You should, unless of course you already are seeing someone. (lasciviously). So is that why you're here?

NOLA: Well I guess I am seeing someone although it sounds kind of strange to say we're seeing each other.

BLAKE: (teasingly) So is he cute?

NOLA: (uncomfortable with adolescent question) I think so

BLAKE: Oh, it's so fun getting to know someone new, but I guess I'll never know about that again.

NOLA: Well, it's not exactly someone new. I guess I've kind of started dating my husband if you want to call it dating. Sounds kind of weird, huh?

BLAKE: No, really, that's great. I've never met him before. Isn't he some sort of scientist or something?

NOLA: (nodding) He's an archaelogist

DR SEDWICK enters the room

DR: Nola, I'm ready to see you.

NOLA: It was really nice talking with you. Good luck with the twins

BLAKE: Thanks Nola, good luck with your husband.

Nola follows Dr. Sedwick in the other room

INT. DR. SEDWICK'S OFFICE -- A FEW MOMENTS LATER (Scene 11B)

NOLA and DR. SEDWICK are having a brief consultation

DR. SEDWICK: Nola, it is good to see you again. I guess the last time was when your son . . . um . . .

NOLA: (finishing her sentence) Anthony James was born

DR: That was a very long time ago . . . he must be all grown by now

NOLA: It's hard to believe, but true

DR: I see on your chart from you doctor in California that you had some troubles a few years ago.

NOLA: (ignores comment) Well I really just came in to get my prescription . . . my prescription updated Sedwick scans her chart.

DR: We can easily take care of that.

NOLA: Today?

DR: Today, no problem at all. Are we in some sort of hurry?

NOLA: Maybe

DR: Well that's good to hear, I guess

Nola nods

SCENE 12 & 12B Why Fight the Feeling aka "Nola's Hedonism Rears it's Head"

INT. REARDON BOARDING HOUSE/QUINT'S CAR -- EVENING (Scene 12)

NOLA is spending a quiet evening at home alone and not happy about it.

The PHONE RINGS. Nola answers it

NOLA: Hello

QUINT: Nola, I was hoping you would be home

NOLA: Where are you?

QUINT: About five minutes away, but I wanted to call before I just showed up

NOLA: Oh

QUINT: Is it okay if I come over? I would like to see you.

NOLA; Maybe that wouldn't be a good idea

QUINT: Do you already have plans?

NOLA: No, no plans

QUINT: You sure?

NOLA: Of course I'm sure

QUINT: I really need to see you.

NOLA: I guess we need to talk

FADE OUT:

EXT. REARDON BOARDING HOUSE PORCH -- 5 MINUTES LATER (Scene 12B)

NOLA is sitting on Porch waiting for Quint. QUINT arrives

QUINT: Nola, I really am sorry about the other day. I made a big mistake

NOLA: What was that?

QUINT: Did Bridget tell you that I stopped by the other morning?

NOLA: (surprised) No, she didn't tell me. I asked her if you called, but she said no.

QUINT: That doesn't surprise me. She told me something that I just never should have believed.

NOLA: What did she tell you?

QUINT: She gave me the whole story about your "boyfriend" again. I believed her. She told me you weren't there because you spent the night with him.

NOLA: But I told you she made the whole thing up . . . I told you.

QUINT: I know, but I am so scared that I believed her. Then I remembered that you have NEVER lied to me and I started to realize how much I was asking of you to forgive me.

Quint looks off kind of embarrased. Nola doesn't know what to say. Quint changes the subject.

QUINT: I had a really good time the other night

Quint sits down next to her

NOLA: Me too

QUINT: I really don't want to pressure you into anything, but I want to be perfectly clear that I am here if you want me.

NOLA: You just have no idea how much I want to forget the last 2-3 years. . . I ran into Blake Marler at the doctor's today and it brought back . . .

QUINT: Your okay, Nola aren't you?

NOLA: I'm fine. Just a check up. (turning from him) I always like to be a girl scout.

QUINT: What?

NOLA: Blake, well . . . she's having twins you know?

QUINT: No I didn't know

Quint gives Nola a warm knowing hug

QUINT: Also I want you to know that whenever you are ready to talk about that, I'll be here . . . . Nola it feels so good to hold you

Nola nods and Quint releases her

QUINT: You know, I can't stop thinking about the other night.

NOLA: The night you pried me full of champagne?

QUINT: Now come on, I didn't exactly force you.

NOLA: I know, I guess I just used it as an excuse.

QUINT; Do you need an excuse tonight?

NOLA: No, I will need to take responsibility for all my feelings. . . . Quinton I think we might be able to make this work.

QUINT (ecstatically): Do you mean that?

NOLA: I don't see what sense it would be to ignore all these feelings. I mean am I going to make myself miserable for the rest of my life trying to fight them?

QUINT: Nola, I want to be so close to you.

Quint brushes his fingers against her cheek and looks longingly into her eyes. Nola responds. He gently kisses her cheek.

NOLA: (quietly) My heart is racing

QUINT: Mine too

NOLA: I can't believe this. I guess I can't resist you

QUINT: I know that I can't resist you.

He slowly and gently kisses her other cheek, forehead, her hand, etc. He is completely content going on like this, but Nola is not and hungrily starts to kiss him. Quint reacts with surprise.

QUINT: My, my, my

Nola shamelessly pulls him back into the kiss. Things are really starting to steam up when BRIDGET steps on the porch and CLEARS her throat. Quint and Nola stop to look who's there.

BRIDGET: Nice of you to come up for air.

QUINT: (sheepishly) Hi Bridget

BRIDGET: Now is this anyway for an old married soon to be divorced couple to behave?

NOLA: Quinton and I were having an important talk

BRIDGET: Well I can see that you must have a lot to say.

NOLA: Bridget, do you mind? (looking toward the door)

BRIDGET: Not at all. Go to it kids. But you might be more comfortable on one of those soft, cushiony, bouncy things.

Quint & Nola get a glimmer in their eye. Bridget leaves. Nola and Quint have to laugh as they resume "necking".

4 - "Nola the Big Tease"
by Donna

EXT. REARDON BARDING HOUSE PORCH -- LATER (SCENE 12C)

QUINT and NOLA continue to enjoy each other's company laughing and joking between kisses. At the same time Nola is loosening Quint's ascot; removing it and starting to unbutton his shirt.

QUINT: (helplessly) Nola, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but this can't continue like this.

NOLA : (feigning innocence) Why what's wrong?

QUINT: Nothing is wrong, believe me nothing is WRONG. It's just that I don't want to pressure you and if this keeps up much longer well . . . I am really not going to want to leave.

NOLA (teasing): Am I too much for you?

Nola continues to hold onto him and kiss him

QUINTON: What has come over you?

NOLA: It's my new motto, enjoy every second. I'm enjoying. Aren't you enjoying?

QUINT: Believe me, I am definitely enjoying, but Nola I can't exactly take you here on the porch with Bridget, Peter and all the boarders inside.

NOLA: Such a prude?

QUINT: (shocked) Nola

NOLA: Just kidding. Poor Quinton can't regulate the temperature. Oh, I feel sorry for men. They miss out on the best things in life She continues kissing him, deliberately not making things any easier for him

QUINTON: (hopeful) Do you want to go back with me to the site? We can pick up a nice bottle of cognac on the way . . . .

NOLA: (stringing him along) No, I guess not. You spoiled the mood. Nola gets up quickly, kisses him and heads to the door.

NOLA: (turning) Quinton, but soon . . . . . . Maybe

QUINT: Nola wait, I can stay here if you like

NOLA: Good night Quinton

QUINT: Nola?

NOLA: Good night

Quint realizes he is not going to get her to change her mind.

QUINT: Will you stop by the digsite tomorrow?

NOLA: Hmmmm . . . (seductively) count on it. Night

Nola closes the door behind her and Quint leaves in frustrated confusion

INT. REARDON BOARDING HOUSE KITCHEN (SCENE 12D)

NOLA has just closed the door behind her and she leans against the door looking exhausted.

NOLA (to herself): I can't believe I just let him leave. This is going to be much harder than I thought.

BRIDGET enters the kitchen in her nightshirt. Looks around.

BRIDGET: Talking to yourself Nola?

NOLA: As a matter of fact, yes

BRIDGET: I'm surprised to see you here alone after what I left or is Quinton already naked up in your room?

NOLA: No he left

BRIDGET: Sorry to hear that

NOLA: Don't be sorry. I asked him to leave.

BRIDGET: Well aren't you the one with all the willpower!

NOLA: (quietly) I'll be needing a lot of that, that's for sure.

BRIDGET: I think I'm starting to see what you find so sexy about him. At first I thought he was a total dork, but the way he had his hands on you out on that porch . . . I bet he's really good in bed

NOLA: Well that is for me to know and you to never find out. Sorry. . . By the way Quinton told me about the other morning.

BRIDGET: Pretty funny huh?

NOLA: No, not really. We have enough things to deal with and don't need your lies on top of it.

BRIDGET: A little jealousy would do him good.

NOLA: Bridget, I know what I'm doing. Just let me do it. Besides with me occupied with Quint you can focus in on Hart without any interference.

BRIDGET: That's true.

EXT. QUINT'S DIGSITE w/ TENT -- NEXT DAY (Scene 13)

NOLA appears in a cute little safari outfit ready to "work". She sneaks up behind QUINTON who is typing into his laptop. She covers his eyes.

NOLA: Guess who??

QUINTON: (playing along) Could it be the most desirable and sexy woman I know?

NOLA: Close, you forgot beautiful, didn't you say I was beautiful the other day?

QUINT: Definitely beautiful

QUINT gets up and turns to her to kiss her, but she pulls away

NOLA: Now we don't need a repeat of last night, do we? At least not until we've gotten some work done. I don't want to be blamed for you not getting your work done.

QUINT: So you are here to work

NOLA: Of course. You mentioned you still have a lot of work to get done. So I'm all yours.

QUINT: (lasciviously) I like the sound of that.

NOLA: Where is our adoring son?

QUINT: I sent AJ and Reno on a little out of town errand. So your timing is perfect? I could really use you.

Quint plays up all the double entendres for all they're worth

NOLA: (ignoring double entendres) Better not let him hear you call him AJ

QUINT: We should have a really nice day for this type of work.

Quint gets Nola a big shovel.

QUINT: You can work over in that area. We are going to need about a four foot by four foot ditch that is about three feet deep.

Nola is not going to complain, but that is certainly not what she had in mind

NOLA: Are you going to be working with me?

QUINT: No, I have to continue entering data into the computer.

Nola takes the shovel and gets to work. Quint laughs to himself.

FADE TO:

EXT. QUINT'S DIG SITE w/ TENT -- ABOUT AN HOUR LATER (SCENE 13B)

The sky is starting to cloud over.

QUINT is working at his computer.

QUINT: Nola, how are you doing over there

NOLA (O.C) : Great, just great. I don't lift all those weights for nothing.

QUINT: Well it shows. You know maybe you better stop. It looks like it might start to rain.

NOLA: (O.C) I don't mind getting a little wet. ********(see note below)

QUINT: Really, I don't think you need to.

Suddenly there is a big clap of lightening. Nola runs toward the tent

NOLA: Rain is one thing, thunder and lightening is another.

QUINT: This looks like a really big storm. You wait in the tent and let me go grab some things.

Nola nods and enters tent.

******Please note my utter restraint in not playing up that double entendre
