Lots of cool people were born in 1954 and are completing 51 great years of living in 2005 including Oprah Winfrey, Howard Stern, John Travolta, Ellen Barkin, Kathleen Turner, Christie Brinkley, Condoleezza Rice, one of our our website's most valuable contributors and our feted girl, LISA BROWN!!!
In celebration of Leo LB's birthday on August 2, the Quint & Nola Homepage is GIVING AWAY 51 x 2 hour long VHS dubs . . . Okay, only kidding!!! We are REALLY giving away 10 x 2 hour long VHS dubs (for no better reason than her birthday is 8/2 and 8+2=10) of our extensive retro library to the first 10 visitors who persuasively write to us and tell us a little bit about why they loved and how much they miss Nola, Quola and Lisa Brown. Creativity and promptness are everything!!!
Happy Birthday, Lisa!!!! Buon Compleanno!! Hyvää syntymäpäivää! And we miss you terribly.
TOP TEN REASONS QUOLA IS MISSED. FAVORITES ARE #3 AND #6
Why I miss Quola...
1) Because...Who wouldn't sigh for Quint? We need more opportunities to do so.
2) Because every fan was left with so many "unfilmed" scenes they wanted to watch...
3) Because Quint knew how to use the word "legion" as an adjective in describing Nola's virtues. Floyd knew how to use few words representing any parts of speech.
4) Because, like Paul Henried, Quint can light two cigarettes at once.
5) Because the Tanquir-centric scenes were some of the most romantic I've viewed.
6) Because Quint looks for Phoenician artifacts in the wrong part of the world...and finds them.
7) Because, we all know why we should be happy when the florist delivers heather, rather than roses.
8) Because, we need to make sure Floyd stays in jail.
9) Because, we all want to see Quint and Tony work together to save Nola, one more time.and . . .
10) We all know how the story really ended/continued. We just need to see the real story. . .

QUINTESSENTIAL STORY OF RUSHING HOME FROM JUNIOR HIGH OR HIGH SCHOOL AND/OR SKIPPING SCHOOL TO SEE QUINT & NOLA. DID YOU HAVE THEIR PHOTOS IN YOUR LOCKER TOO??? WHICH ONES? THE SAFARI PIC?
Hi, my name is Amy and I loved, loved, loved Guiding Light back in the Quint/Nola days.
I was a shaky 12 year old, just starting junior high, and I looked forward to everyday, 3pm, for the start of Guiding Light on CBS. It was just enough time for school bus to get me from a very rural seventh grade classroom to my very rural front door so that I could see this show. I can remember every bit of it... the mysteriously dark archaeologist with a shadowy past, the man named Quinton McCord with the blonde hair and deep, dark blue eyes. And of course, Nola, the quirky young woman who appeared at his door, then accompanied him on the digs, and slowly fell in love with him just as we, the audience, did. And Silas, too. Ever the thorn in the side. The lovely Helena, a deeper thorn in Nola's side, and the deeply troubled Rebecca... whom we all knew could speak. Yes, she really could.
I was lucky enough to meet Lisa Brown twice, and I did meet Michael Tylo once. They appeared first, in 1982, at a local city mall. It was after Thanksgiving and I convinced my mother to let me skip a day of school to see them. What was school, after all? There were so many people packed into the Dayton Mall that day... they actually experienced structural damage. I remember being pushed, prodded, and practically squashed in line, but I made my way through a throng of people to get an autograph. Lisa was very nice, and when I approached Michael I think all sense temporarily left my twelve-year old self. I was able to mumble "Thanks" and then again, "Thanks" and I stumbled away.
Years later, I met Lisa, again, at the Dayton Mall. This time she was playing Iva on As The World Turns. I got another autograph.
Love the site, love the memories, thanks so much.

LOVE THE REFERENCES TO MOM, GRANDMOM, AUNTS, SIBLINGS. MEMORIES OF FAMILY IS PART OF WHAT MAKES QUINT & NOLA SO SPECIAL!!!
Thanks for letting me participating in your contest!
I started watching GL when I was about 12 years old and Quint & Nola were my favorites from that show. I remember my mom explaining all the characters to me and how mean Nola was, how she tried to lie to Kelly and told him the baby was his, and my mom was very passionate about her distaste for Nola! But soon after I started watching it, Quint comes in and he is so romantic and empowering. They were so much fun to watch together and one of my favorite memories is of the ball they went to where both Nola and Vanessa dressed up as Scarlett O'Hara. Classic!!! I loved their wedding and flying away in giant hot air balloons. That was truly when soaps were at there best. GL could really use them again. The show has gotten too far from it's roots and the things that made it once great. Love your website. Thanks!

TURNED OUT THAT NOLA WAS FASHION FORWARD!!!
I just have to say that I have loved Quint and Nola. Back in 1983, I had the privilege of visiting the set of Guiding Light and meeting Lisa Brown. She was such an icon to me at the time. I was a senior in high school and felt that Nola was setting all the fashion trends. Anytime someone wore a short skirt, my friends and I referred to it as a "Nola skirt". This continued on for a couple of decades. I've been watching GL since 1975. Bring back Lisa Brown And Tylo.

OOPS, THERE IS THE LOCKER COMMENT AND MORE HIGH SCHOOL OBSESSION!!
Quint and Nola bring back so many memories of high school years in the early 80s. Now I am even older than Quint was at the time. Where has the time gone??? They were so romantic, and I rushed home from school everyday to watch them or set up my old fashioned VCR to hopefully record. Soaps just do not do romance like that anymore. They were each others' one and only in the truest sense of the phrase. I remember that I wrote something in my ninth grade geometry book about how good they were and how hot Michael Tylo was. I thought the person who had the book the following year might read my note and tune in. LOL!! And instead of pictures of Motley Crue or whoever else was popular in the early 80s, I had pictures of Quint and Nola in my locker. I miss them so much. Maybe someday we will see Lisa Brown and Michael Tylo together again. Happy birthday, Lisa Brown!!!

QUINT & NOLA FANS ARE ALWAYS HOPEFULLY OPTIMISTIC
I first started watching Guiding Light when Nola and Quint were first getting together. I instantly fell in love with Lisa Brown's character Nola. I have continued to watch Guiding Light all these years in anticipation of their character's return. The show hasn't been the same without this couple, especially Lisa Brown, she's such a talented and amazing actress. The Guiding Light is so desperately in need of her humor and her sass.

AWWW, DON'T GIVE UP HOPE, BUT ALSO BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU HOPE FOR
Happy Birthday Lisa Brown. Quola was my favorite on Guiding Light. I miss watching Michael as Quinton and Lisa Brown as Nola.
I was thrilled to read that Michael was interested in coming back as Quinton and that Lisa would have possibly come back also as Nola, but it seems that nothing came of it.
Have a Great Birthday, Lisa and keep up the great acting.
