1. What is the name of Quinton & Nola's love theme?
Pachelbel's Canon in D. It was first used when Quint and Nola were snorkeling and scuba diving around St. Croix.

2. Is it true that there is significance to the names of the characters originally associated with Quinton McCord?
Yes, Douglas Marland was a big movie/gothic buff, and it is surely no coincidence that Renfield (as in creepy Mrs. Renfield on GL) was a character in Dracula, and that Fritz (as in the gimpy chauffeur/butler on GL) was a character in Frankenstein. Gunther Lagosi was another GL character name which was carefully chosen to be reminiscent of the name of the Romanian born actor, Bela Lugosi, famous for playing Dracula. Further, the name Quinton or Quentin was the name of the werewolf in the cult classic, Dark Shadows from 1966-1971. Very tricky, Mr. Marland.

3. What was Nola's baby originally named? When and why did she change it? What is the child's name now? How old would she be?
She was originally named Kelly Louise Reardon. "Kelly" was after Dr. Kelly Nelson whom Nola was infatuated with at the time, and "Louise" after the biological maternal grandmother. Her name is currently Anastasia Louise Chamberlain. She has been called Stacey. "Anastasia" was simply a romantic sounding name that inspired Nola, and she thought it would suit her in the privileged life that Nola desired for her daughter. "Chamberlain" is the name of Nola's husband, Anastasia's adopted father and godfather. The baby's name was changed as part of Nola's maturity and transformation into a romantic heroine. As opposed to other reports of the story, she made the decision all on her own and NOT based on any concerns surrounding Kelly Nelson. Anastasia was born in January of 1982. She would be twenty three years old without SORAS.

4. What was the name of the road that Quint McCord's mansion was on?
Thornway Road

5. When were Nola & Quinton married?
June 24, 1983

6. What was the name of Nola's kooky sidekick?
Gracie Middleton

7. What was the relationship between Quint and Mrs. Violet Renfield?
Mrs. Renfield started out as Quint's older, spooky housekeeper. She was also his confidante. It was later revealed that Mrs. Renfield helped Quint's single mother, Stephanie Ryan, raise him when he was a child.

8. What was Quinton's birth name?
Sean Ryan

9. Where did the name Quinton McCord come from?
It was a name he made up for himself. In part, the name was assumed so that Henry Chamberlain would not know he was his son. It was also a way to hide from his tragic past. A past that was later proven completely innocent.

10. Am I a freak if I felt "stirrings" inside every time I looked into Quint's eyes or when he brushed Nola's cheek, chin and/or lips with his fingertips?
Yes, you are, but we like freaks!! On a serious note, it's a bona fide fact that many girls in the early 80s were thrust fully into puberty or their sexual awakening watching Mr. McCord with his precious Nola. How naughty that they would make out, and then she would turn around and call him Mr. McCord!! We're convinced it is this theory that explains why they inspired such continuing obsessiveness. Nola was the perfect child-woman, and it's quite a fantasy that a man such as Mr. McCord fell head over heels in love with her.

11. How come the site bashes Floyd/Tom Nielsen so much?
Ah, shall we count the ways that he made us cringe!! For one, a Quint and Nola fan was supposed to dislike Floyd. He was the one thing standing between them being the perfect family. Second, he was a horrible, annoying and ugly actor, and he was like finger nails on a chalkboard. Did you ever notice how he bounced and whined as a way to show annoyance? UGH!! Most offensive was the way he was unable to keep his off-screen relationship with Lisa Brown out of the Nola and Floyd scenes. It was unprofessional. There are several scenes where Floyd was way too familiar with Nola (harming the carefully created Quint & Nola fantasy). She was professional enough not to reciprocate, but had there been no off-screen association she would have bulldozed someone of his inferior acting caliber when they had the thankfully rare scene. It showed on screen that he was full of himself being involved in a real life relationship with the then hottest commodity on the show, when he should have faded into the background. Then the show being a vehicle for his no-talent musical career was over the top and taking advantage of LB's position of power on the show. Notice how he got the ax and was suddenly made a murderer right after LB left the show of her own accord?? Coincidence? And you never heard from him again. Hmmmm

12. Do you sell copies of your Quint & Nola videotapes and DVDs?
No, selling them would be illegal. We will trade with other fans and/or give them away as time permits, if we like you and consider you "Quola worthy."

13. How do you happen to have all this old material on DVD/videotape?
Between one fabulously anal contributor to the site from Texas, and another devoted one that grew up in New Jersey, we have almost the entire story. Quality is decent considering their age and how long they existed only on videotape. Everything was originally recorded on Betamax (not BetaSP as used today) which is probably why it exists at all today. Now all scenes are transferred to DVD for safe keeping. We also acquired a few things through online trades and ebay.

14. How many hours of scenes do you have?
We have Nola & Quinton edits. We have at least 50 hours!!! We can tell you every minute detail of Quint and Nola from 1981-1985, but barely even remember other characters of time.

15. How many people work on the site?
There are three main participants including: the techy Finnish webmaster, the obsessive- compulsive, whip cracking content producer and our über-talented graphic artist. There have also been about 10 other contributors over the years. Thanks to all who ever helped us with anything!!!

16. Are you guys like Trekkies or Trekkers?
Sorta, but Quint & Nola is way better than Star Trek. :) But if you mean like Trekkies in that we can quote almost every scene? Yes, of course we can. If you mean like Trekkies in that we hold conventions? We have all gotten together, but never a convention. Maybe we'll all meet in the Caribbean and drink mojitos if they ever fix our couple on camera. If you mean like Trekkies in that we dress like the characters? Well, I don't think anyone ever wore an ascot, but I must admit to wearing socks and sandals with dresses and coloring my hair red in the 80s.

17. Are you in touch with Michael Tylo and Lisa Brown? Do you know them?
The content producer speaks with Lisa from time to time. She is extremely kind, smart and motivated. The site occasionally hears from Michael via his representative. He and Connie are much thanked for making the recent interview happen and everything that resulted. Our Finnish webmaster is now also doing Michael's official fan site, www.michaeltyloonline.com. Lisa and Michael support the site, and they support Quola!! They are very appreciative of their many longtime fans. Neither are currently working on-camera, but would love to come back as Quint & Nola if the storyline was appropriate.

18. Who pays for the site and cool domain name?
The content producer finances it. We hope you enjoy our ad free and pop-up free environment.

19. Do any of you still watch GL? Who do you like on the show now?
The Finnish webmaster can not watch, as Guiding Light does not air in Finland (plus she was not born yet when Quint and Nola were hot), but she has copies of all our DVDs, and is respectable in her Quint & Nola knowledge. The content producer and graphic artist do not watch GL. We would tape the show if Michael Tylo and Lisa Brown came back together as a romantic couple, but not under any other circumstances. We are skeptical that anyone could properly write for and represent our characters. We believe some of the other contributors still watch. We don't watch, so can't say who else we like, but Maeve was always cool.

20. Whatever happened to Quinton & Nola?
They left the show in 1985 to move to Tanquir. They spent many years traveling the family on archaeological digs. Quint adopted Anastasia. We don't generally acknowledge pseudo/faux Quola from 1995-1997, but they came back separated with an inconsistent story that no one who knew the characters could ever believe. The characters were, however, essentially reconciled when the story was dropped by new EP, Paul Rauch. They were never given a chance to show how great they could have been again. Michael Tylo was let out of his contract. Lisa Brown remained on the show with no decent story until her contract expired. What happened to them was left unresolved. The pseudo story of Quint and Nola was more driven by the behind-the-scenes "screw ups" and "biases" than anything actually having to do with the history of these established characters. A character beaten Nola finally left Springfield, presumably to be near her daughter in California, and then perhaps to reunite with her husband. That the story was left unresolved (and majorly botched) is the best we can detail. Additionally, any female viewer should be extremely offended that a genre for and about women should present our beloved Nola in such a terrible and pathetic light, simply because she was beyond her so-called prime (i.e. worthless and unlovable as the story clearly indicated). Tsk tsk, Mr Rauch and Ms. McTavish, to so dishonor such a great part of Guiding Light's stellar history, and the magical couple that the late, great Douglas Marland, lovingly crafted. Please don't ask us about this again. It gives us the "stomach thing." Read The Real Story and find out what really happened to our characters as told by the people who love and know them.

21.How do you see Quint & Nola should they ever come back?
They must be together, happy and romantic with little to no reference to pseudo. They must be only played by Michael Tylo and Lisa Brown. And we hate Nola as the stupid buffoon. Perhaps, a contemporary example to model Quint & Nola after is Ozzy & Sharon Osborne (sans the cursing and substance abuse). Seems an unusual comparison? To explain, the Nola to Sharon comparison is far clearer and more direct. Sharon like Nola is the one who drives the entire ship. She is the people person, but still fun and eccentric and wild for her husband. Nola would probably look a lot like Sharon, although admittedly Sharon has had probably hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of "work" so we would accept a less "tight" Nola. :) Ozzy to Quint comparison is obviously not literal. But both men are more or less out of touch with reality as they are so talented and wrapped up in their careers of rock & roll and archaeology respectively. They both desperately need and adore their wife who is the lifeline. Then together they deal with the hijinks of their children, but are also entertaining on their own. A middle aged Quint fussing over a middle aged Nola would be so adorable.

22. How come you don't want people copying or using information from your site elsewhere?
We do not make money on the site and have no advertisers, thus prohibiting visitors from putting our material elsewhere is not driven by any financial need to keep people from going to competing sites. However, there is so much misinformation on the web and in published books about these characters, and we don't want to be associated with that misinformation. We don't want our true information mixed with false information and represented in an inaccurate way. We are the authority on Quint & Nola anywhere, and we have our extensive library of video on them and almost 200MB of material on this site to prove what we say is accurate. We acknowledge that the memory is a tricky thing after over 20 years, but we have the whole story as it aired (including pseudo) and have always referenced the actual aired scenes before making any statements. Trust only www.quintnola.com for all the correct information.
