The character of Nola Ann Reardon Chamberlain is arguably Lisa Brown's most well know soap role. Even though, she spent about as many cumulative years as Iva on As the World Turns, it is Nola that she will always be most loved and known for. Iva was a standard depressing soap victim type, and while the relationship Iva had with Kirk Anderson was quite ripe with fun and chemistry, NOTHING compares to how wonderful she was as Classic Nola with Quinton. As Nola, she somehow managed to turn one of the most hated villainesses into an absolutely beloved heroine within just a few months. The well-respected, late-headwriter Douglas Marland loved Lisa. He created Nola, and he created Iva. It was good to see Lisa portray Iva, as it gave viewers a chance to see her range as an actress, but what she created as Nola from 1980-1985 was about more than range. Actually, the characters of Quinton, Nola and their romance transcended and did not fit the standard soap format at all, which is probably why anyone after Marland had a difficult to impossible time grasping what to do with them. Whatever the case, she will ALWAYS be remembered as the auburn-haired, spirited, romantic, dreaming Nola with her trademark sighs, quivering lip and girlish ways.

She will also be remembered for her Broadway stint as ingenue Peggy Sawyer in the original version of 42nd Street. She first appeared in this show from August 2, 1982 through Fall 1983, when at five months pregnant she left to have her son, James Anthony. Interestingly enough, that year coincided with some of the very best months of Classic Quola. It was a great and busy year for her career (i.e. eight performances a week on B'way and three to usually four episodes a week on GL with always the fifth day conspicuously off for the Wednesday B'way matinee) . Lisa was made for the role of Peggy Sawyer. She was a great tap dancer and had an amazing energy and charisma.

That same energy, perfectionism and passion has now been transferred to her work behind the camera as a director and producer. Lisa keeps busy on various projects with the quality and integrity of the project always utmost in her mind.

Production's gain has been acting's loss, and her fans will always miss her, and hope that maybe someday

Quinton R. McCord Chamberlain is the soap role that established Michael Tylo and has been noted by him as his favorite soap character, and the relationship Quinton had with Nola as the most romantic of the on-screen relationships he brought to life. Michael is a classically trained actor and therefore was a perfect choice to play the mysterious, educated and elegant Quinton McCord who spent a good part of his young adult life living about Europe.

Michael managed to take the secretive red herring, Quint McCord from a character that everyone thought kidnapped Alan Spaulding and murdered Diane Ballard to a romantic, desirable leading man. Viewers were also originally led to believe that Quint had possible evil plans for Nola's baby. But instead, it turned out that he was the most noble of characters who would fall in love with Nola and rescue her from her humdrum life at the boarding house. His transformation from the reserved Mr. McCord with the ascot and velvet smoking jackets to the sexy and romantic Quinton was masterful.

Michael Tylo perfectly nailed every nuance of this very romantic and dashing character. His dramatic line deliveries and ultra refined speech patterns were right on and not only melted Nola's heart, but melted the hearts of the many adoring female fans. Michael did not need to speak for it to be clear how much Quinton worshipped and adored Nola. From the intensity of his blue gaze to the way he would brush his fingers along her jaw line, his portrayal was simply heaven. He gave himself 150% to the character and fully went for the romance without judgment.

After Guiding Light, Michael went onto other daytime soaps including The Young and the Restless. Recently divorced, he lives in Las Vegas near his children, and he teaches classes in the film and theater departments at the University of Las Vegas. He still does acting jobs from time to time, and Michael would come back to Guiding Light with Lisa Brown to thrill the fans with more Quint & Nola romance.

In their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond, these characters will always have that special chemistry and appeal. Michael always cared and sympathized with how strongly the fans felt for Quinton and Nola, and his fans appreciate it.
